Raiders of the Lost Ark 1981Steven Spielberg’s adventure earns its excitement through clear action and Harrison Ford’s knack for looking battered but capable. We would recommend it to almost anyone, though its violence is rougher than the playful tone might suggest.Fi1m 93 - 2
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 1984The raft, the mine cart and the bridge are as well built as anything Spielberg has made, and the film around them has a heroine who only screams and a view of India that should have embarrassed everyone at the time.Fi1m 65 - 3
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 1989Harrison Ford and Sean Connery make this a funny, affectionate adventure worth returning to. The action sometimes repeats familiar pleasures, but the father-and-son friction gives Steven Spielberg’s film enough life to compensate.Fi1m 83 - 4
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 2008Spielberg’s fourth Indiana Jones film opens with forty minutes near the old standard, then loses its way in the jungle, handing the stunts to a computer and the plot to a man who talks in riddles. Ford is worth it; the rest is not.Fi1m 55 - 5
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny 2023James Mangold’s send-off for Indiana Jones gives Harrison Ford a fine, weary last go at the part and buries him under 155 minutes of chases nobody needed. Worth it for the man; the film around him is mostly noise.Fi1m 58
