Our policy
A correction is a change to a statement of fact: a wrong name, date, credit, running time, certificate, price or availability, or a claim about a film that its sources do not support. We make them within one working day of confirming the error, note the change on the page itself, and log it below. If a correction changes the argument of a review, the review is revised and the previous Fi1m score is shown alongside the new one.
A disagreement about our opinion of a film is not a correction, and we don't log those, although we do read them. If you think we've been unfair, the place to say so is a member review under your own name, beneath ours.
Where an error came from a source we relied on, we say so, and we say what we've changed about the way we use that source.
The log
- Jaws creditThe review gave a credited name in a form other than the credited one: “Wilmer Butler” for Bill Butler. The name reached us in that form from our source, which has been corrected too. Corrected to the name as credited. The name check now runs on every draft before publication.
