Biography
Jon Gary Steele is a production designer and art director. Also credited as Gary Steele, he was born in Los Angeles and raised in Arkansas. He studied architecture at the University of Arkansas before moving into film and television.
Steele began his career as an art director on the soap opera Capitol. He has worked as production designer on feature films including American History X (1998), Cruel Intentions (1999), Burlesque (2010) and Footloose (2011). His television credits include Outlander (2014–2020) and The Sandman (2022–).
He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for outstanding production design for Outlander.
