Biography
Luc Montpellier is a Canadian cinematographer. He is a graduate of Ryerson University’s film programme and a member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers and the American Society of Cinematographers. He began his career in music videos and short films before moving into features.
Montpellier has had a long collaboration with director Sarah Polley, serving as cinematographer on her short I Shout Love (2001) and the features Away from Her (2007), Take This Waltz (2011) and Women Talking (2022). His other credits include Tales from the Loop (2020) and the series IT: Welcome to Derry (2025). He has received a Gemini Award for Hemingway vs. Callaghan (2003) and a Canadian Society of Cinematographers award for the short Soul Cages (2000), as well as a Canadian Screen Award nomination for It Was You Charlie (2013).
