Biography
Pawel Pogorzelski is a Polish-Canadian cinematographer. Born on 30 July 1979 in Włocławek, Poland, he moved to Montreal with his family at the age of two. He studied media communication at Concordia University before moving to Los Angeles in 2008 to attend the American Film Institute Conservatory.
He is known for his collaborations with director Ari Aster. Pogorzelski was director of photography on Hereditary (2018), Midsommar (2019) — for which he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Cinematography — and Beau Is Afraid (2023). Other credits include Blue Beetle (2023), Nobody (2021) and Fresh (2022).
