Biography
Gu Changwei is a Chinese cinematographer and film director. He was born on 12 December 1957 in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. He trained at the Beijing Film Academy, graduating in 1982, and began his career as a photography assistant at Xi'an Film Studio.
He is known for his work as director of photography on films including Red Sorghum (1988), Ju Dou (1990), Farewell My Concubine (1993), In the Heat of the Sun (1994), The Gingerbread Man (1998), Autumn in New York (2000) and Devils on the Doorstep (2001). He has also directed features such as Peacock (2005). He is married to actress Jiang Wenli.
