Biography
Mark Whiting, also credited as Mark Randolph Whiting, is an American designer, art director and filmmaker. Born on 4 July 1964 in Birmingham, Michigan, he graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 1989. He began his career as an editorial and book-cover illustrator before moving into animation as an art director and production designer.
Whiting served as production designer on the animated feature The Iron Giant (1999), for which he also contributed character design work. He later provided visual development for Finding Nemo (2003). In 2003 he wrote and directed the live-action short Apple Jack, which received several festival awards. He has also worked on titles including Space Jam (1996) and Duck Dodgers (2003–2005).
