Biography
Van Ling is an American visual effects supervisor, film producer and director. He graduated summa cum laude from the USC School of Cinema-Television. He began his career working on visual effects for The Abyss (1989) and served as visual effects coordinator and creative supervisor on Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).
Ling has supervised visual effects on films including Titanic (1997), Starship Troopers (1997), Doctor Dolittle (1998) and Not Another Teen Movie (2001). He has also produced special editions and created DVD menus for several titles. In 2019 he wrote and directed the historical drama Cliffs of Freedom. He is a member of the Visual Effects Society, where he has served on the board of directors, as well as the Producers Guild of America and the Visual Effects Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
