Biography
Yang Zhanjia was a Chinese production designer and art director. Born in August 1936 in Wuqing, Tianjin, he graduated in 1963 from the Central Academy of Arts and Design (now part of Tsinghua University) and joined the Beijing Film Studio in 1972 after earlier teaching work.
He received production design credits on Farewell My Concubine (1993) and Seven Swords (2005), and art direction or supervising art director credits on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Fearless (2006) and Chinese Odyssey 2002 (2002). He was a national first-class film art designer and member of the China Film Art Society. Yang died in Beijing on 25 February 2023.
